The 13th annual Florida United Numismatists summer convention kicks off in July. Dealers from around the country will convene at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando on July 11-13 to buy, sell and appraise coins, paper currency, tokens, medals and other items.
Organized in 1955, the Florida United Numismatists membership comprises hobbyists, collectors, and dealers from around the world in all areas of coin, medal, and currency collecting. Over 200 tables will represent dealers, and leading auction house Heritage Auctions will hold three sessions, two of them live floor auctions and one internet-only session.
The Signature Premier live auction starts at 6:00 Central time on Thursday, July 11 and will feature a rare 1943 Lincoln cent struck on a bronze planchet. Considered the most famous mint error (1943 cent were supposed to be struck on zinc-plated steel blanks), this coin, rated XF45 and one of only about 20 known to survive, is expected to bring well over $100,000. Other higher-grades examples have commanded well over $300,000.
The Signature Floor Session on Friday, July 12, also at 6:00, includes about 750 rare coins ranging in estimated prices from just a few dollars to an 1893-S Morgan silver dollar at over $13,000. Both floor auctions will also accept phone, mail, fax, and internet bids.
Sunday’s Signature Internet Session is for live internet, mail, fax, and online bidding only. There will be no floor auction.
Details about the auctions’ offerings, terms, and conditions can be found on the Heritage Auctions website.
Admission to the show and auctions is free to the public. Visit the FUN website for complete details and show event schedules.
