In recognition of the 100th anniversary of The American Legion, the US Mint has issued commemorative coins and coin sets in gold, silver, and nickel-clad copper. Founded on March 15, 1919 after the end of the First World War, The American Legion’s primary focus is on service to veterans, service members, and communities.
